The Centre of Transformation is appealing to the community to help Thabo with warm clothing as he continues working towards a brighter future.

South Africa (22 October 2026) – A warm jacket might seem like a small thing, but for Thabo, it could be one more reminder that there are people who care about his journey.

The Centre of Transformation has shared an update on Thabo’s progress as he continues his rehabilitation, celebrating the moments of joy, connection and personal growth that form part of rebuilding a life.

Editor’s note: Thabo is the man who spent his days aggressively begging on the roads of Fourways, causing fear and harassing female drivers. We previously reported the story when Sam Wright took to social media asking for help in addressing the situation. Curt van Heerden, a South African pastor, anti-drug activist and political figure associated with the People’s Movement for Change, visited Thabo, giving him the option to attend a rehabilitation programme. He accepted and was transferred to The Centre of Transformation, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

In a video shared by the organisation, the team thanks everyone who has supported the men in its programme and offers a glimpse into Thabo’s journey. They describe him as doing well and encourage him to keep going, reminding him that he is loved and supported.

Now, the centre is asking members of the public to help Thabo stay warm as the weather gets colder. The immediate appeal is for clothing in size 12, particularly jackets and other warm items that could make a difference to his day-to-day comfort.

The request is part of the organisation’s broader effort to ensure that Thabo receives the care and support he needs as he works towards a better future.

At the Centre of Transformation, rehabilitation is about more than overcoming addiction. It is also about restoring hope, rediscovering purpose and helping people rebuild their lives with dignity.

The organisation says every contribution helps it continue providing support to those in its programme. Whether through a donation towards rehabilitation or by sharing Thabo’s story with others, community members have an opportunity to help him take the next steps in his journey.

The centre has expressed its gratitude to everyone who has already stood alongside the programme and is encouraging more people to get involved.

And with the right support, even seemingly small acts of kindness can help make that journey a little easier.
