When Snapper became very sick, Adam did whatever it took to get her help.
Long before the sun had climbed high into the sky, Adam was already preparing for a journey.
It wasn’t a journey he wanted to make but it was one he knew he had to.
His seven-month-old dog, Snapper, was very sick.
Normally, Snapper was full of energy. She loved exploring, playing and following Adam wherever he went. But lately she had become weak and unwell and each day Adam grew more worried.
The nearest animal clinic was more than 10 kilometres away. For many people, that might not seem like a problem. But Adam didn’t have a car and he didn’t have money for transport.
Still, he wasn’t about to give up.
Instead, he found a crate and some rope. Carefully, he made a comfortable space for Snapper inside and lifted the crate onto his shoulder. Before leaving, he grabbed a tin of dog food too. If Snapper became hungry along the way, he wanted to be ready.

Then he started walking.
The road stretched on for kilometres. Dust swirled around his shoes, the sun grew warmer and the crate became heavier with every step. But Adam kept moving forward, one foot after another, carrying his precious passenger towards the help she desperately needed.
Whenever the journey felt difficult, he only had to glance at Snapper to remember why he was doing it.
She wasn’t just a dog.
She was family.
By the time Adam finally reached the clinic, he was tired and sore, but he was also relieved. The staff quickly realised that Snapper needed urgent care and immediately began treating her.

As they listened to Adam’s story, they were deeply moved.
Over the years, they had met many people who loved their animals, but there was something special about a man who had carried his sick puppy for more than 10 kilometres because he simply refused to leave her without help.
While the veterinarians cared for Snapper, Adam stayed close by, hoping she would soon begin to feel better.
And then she did! Adam’s long walk and the veterinarian’s care helped Snapper feel much better!
That day, Adam didn’t just carry Snapper to safety.
He carried a lesson for all of us.
Real love keeps going, even when the journey is hard.
