In South Africa, Love is Love and we LOVE that Cape Town has just been bestowed a title that sums up local kindness and acceptance.

Cape Town, South Africa (20 June 2025) – In a survey of over 1 million travellers, Cape Town has been ranked one of the Most LGBTQ+ Friendly Cities in the World in 2025 by Big 7 Travel.

Cape Town, South Africa has landed 16th on the 2025 list. The award is given by Big 7 Travel on their newly updated website EnjoyTravel.com, which uses a comprehensive scoring system that analyses the number of hashtags and TikTok views per destination, sample survey results of Big 7 Media’s audiences, and from the global editorial team.

They had only wonderful things to add about Cape Town and South Africa as a whole and we are proud!

“South Africa is a trailblazer for LGBTQ+ rights on the continent, becoming the first country in Africa to legalise same sex marriage in 2006, and Cape Town is at the heart of this legacy. The progressive and inclusive stance makes the city both welcoming and fun for queer locals and visitors, with a schedule of gay-friendly events throughout the year. The coastal capital bursts into the colours of Pride every February/March, and other vibrant celebrations include the Mother City Queer Project and the Out in Africa Film Festival. The De Waterkant neighbourhood is the city’s LGBTQ+ hub, with gay-owned bars, gyms, shops, and cafes, as well as the iconic rainbow crossing – a visual representation of South Africa’s anti-discrimination laws.”

Yay, Cape Town! Another fabulous feather for that cap.
