Cape Town, South Africa (17 August 2026) – For more than a year, one question has kept Weirdough Bakery and its followers guessing: Who exactly is James?
The mysterious customer has become something of a local legend after apparently ordering coffee without ever coming upstairs to collect it and now, Weirdough Bakery is dangling the ultimate reward for everyone who’s been following the saga.
In its latest video, the bakery’s loyal employee Finn takes the search to new territory, swapping the bakery for Cape Town’s streets and beaches as the hunt for James continues.
But there may finally be a light at the end of the tunnel.
Weirdough has promised that if enough people vote for the bakery in the Best of the Cape Awards, where it has been nominated in the Best Breakthrough category, the identity of the mysterious James will finally be revealed.
Now James remains in hiding, but after more than a year of searching, Cape Town might finally be about to meet the man behind the mystery.
