Harvey and Alexander will tackle more than 100km of demanding terrain as they raise funds for Team Zonke’s life-changing work with children.

Drakensberg, South Africa (30 June 2026) – Two young riders from Team Zonke are preparing for the biggest challenge of their lives as they get ready to take on one of South Africa’s toughest off-road endurance races, all while raising funds to help other children.

12-year-old Harvey and 13-year-old Alexander are preparing to tackle one of South Africa’s toughest off-road endurance races. The pair will take on the 2026 IMPI Hard Enduro, a three-day event in the rugged Northern Drakensberg that attracts more than 1,200 riders from across the country. Covering more than 100 kilometres of unforgiving terrain, the route is known for its steep climbs, rocky descents, river crossings and technical obstacles that test even the most experienced competitors.

But for Harvey and Alexander, every kilometre has a greater purpose. The boys are riding on behalf of Team Zonke, a therapeutic motorsport programme run by The Maletsatsi Foundation. The initiative uses off-road motorcycling to help children build resilience, confidence and discipline while providing a positive outlet for the challenges many of them face.

The foundation says Team Zonke has become a life-changing space for many young riders, helping them grow both on and off the bike.

Harvey and Alexander have already proven their determination. Despite carrying minor injuries picked up during a recent cross-country championship event, both have chosen to take on the demanding challenge rather than step away from the starting line.

The foundation believes their courage will inspire younger Team Zonke members, showing them that perseverance, commitment and believing in yourself can take you further than you ever imagined.

They hope to raise R40 000 for Team Zonke, with every donation helping the programme continue supporting children through therapeutic motorsport experiences, equipment and opportunities that many families would otherwise never be able to access.

As they prepare to line up alongside hundreds of adult riders this week, Harvey and Alexander will be riding for every child who has found hope, confidence and belonging through Team Zonke.
