Funda Nenja is hoping to expand its family support programme to reach more families in need; they make sure those who need it most, have food on the table.

Mpophomeni, South Africa (09 July 2023) – Funda Nenja is running a family support programme that sees them supplying food parcels to the families of participants in their training programme.

Funda Nenja, a dog training initiative, runs in the township of Mpophomeni, near Howick, in the KZN Midlands of South Africa. They focus on animal welfare in the area by providing dog training lessons to the children and much-needed vaccinations for their beloved dogs.

These lessons teach the dogs some obedience skills but also help the children bond with their pets to form a deeper connection. The classes help educate children about animal welfare and encourage them to show their families how to treat animals too.

The classes are hosted each week, and as part of the programme, the dogs involved get checked up by the primary veterinary clinic. For any animals not inoculated yet, they get it done right there.

Funda Nenja is hoping to expand the family support programme so that they can put food on the tables of those struggling the most.

“As part of our family support program, vegetable packs are regularly given to needy families. These are much appreciated by those who are often struggling to put food on the table.

Times are tough for many people, and with unemployment being commonplace, an increasing number of families are living below the breadline.”

“We see a need to expand our food support program so if you would like to help our vulnerable families please consider making a donation using Family Support as a reference.”
