Prince Mlambo from Into Africa Racing is proving that motorsport’s most powerful stories aren’t always told from the driver’s seat.

Johannesburg, South Africa (12 August 2025) – In motorsport, the spotlight usually shines on the drivers, but behind every victory is a team member whose work can make or break the race.

One of those unsung heroes is Prince Mlambo, a 26-year-old chief mechanic showing us what is possible in South African endurance racing. This August, the South African Endurance Series (SAES) is putting him front and centre, celebrating not only his skill and precision, but also the trail he is blazing for young black South Africans in the sport.

As the heartbeat of Into Africa Racing, Prince embodies everything SAES stands for, which is passion, precision, and pushing beyond limits. At an age where most mechanics are still learning the ropes, he is already calling the shots in the pit lane.

“This isn’t just about racing,” says Mlambo. “It’s about showing young people in the townships and beyond that they belong in these spaces, not just as fans, but as engineers, leaders and innovators.”

His journey from a technical high school in Gauteng to the high-pressure environments of Kyalami and now Zwartkops Raceway is as inspiring. It is also a story that perfectly mirrors SAES’s mission to create a motorsport scene that is as inclusive as it is competitive.

“Prince Mlambo’s journey is exactly why SAES exists  to drive transformation, empower hidden talent, and expand the motorsport narrative beyond the finish line,” says SAES acting CEO, Liyema Letlaka. “He is a reminder that brilliance doesn’t always sit in the driver’s seat. Our commitment is to ensure that young professionals from all backgrounds not only find a place in motorsport, but thrive in it. Prince’s story is powerful because it’s real, it’s earned, and it’s only the beginning.”

The next round of the Southern African Endurance Series heads to Zwartkops Raceway on 11 October 2025. So get ready as SAES celebrates stories Prince Mlambo’s.

Fans can expect a mix of high-octane racing, world-class machines, and the chance to meet the people who make it all possible.
