Keith Present ran the distance so that young women can thrive! He recently completed a challenging, 129km self-motivated marathon to rally support for his heartfelt sanitary pad drive.

Stellenbosch, South Africa (07 September 2025) – When runner Keith Present realised how many girls and young women struggle with anxiety and miss school because of the reality of period poverty in his community, he was moved to make a difference by running the distance to provide young girls with the sanitary products they need.

Over the past weekend, Keith, who also leads the Run4Wings initiative, completed an inspiring 129km run from Stellenbosch to Robertson and back, rallying public support to collect sanitary pads for young women in the community who face financial barriers.

In preparation for the two-day marathon, Keith trained intensively, running 100km per week.

He documented the main event on numerous videos shared on his social media platforms. The 33-year-old admitted that a snaking uphill near Robertson almost brought him to tears, but he refused to give up.

Keith expressed his gratitude for the support he’s received from the public in helping girls overcome the period poverty they face.

“What a reception from our community. Thank you very much. Stellenbosch to Robertson. We made it,” he shared.

This week, the Stellenbosch Executive Mayor, Jeremy Fasser, also met with Keith and the dedicated Run4Wings team to hand over more donations. Fasser expressed heartfelt gratitude for their extraordinary commitment to advancing girls’ rights and dignity.

“Through this initiative, girls are empowered to continue their education and daily lives with dignity, confidence and pride.

“It reminds us that when individuals and communities come together with purpose, we can create meaningful and lasting change that uplifts and strengthens the most vulnerable among us,” said the Stellenbosch Municipality.

Good Things Guy congratulates this young activist on his triumph and mission towards building a society where every girl has the opportunity to thrive.
