South African men’s and women’s hockey teams rise to the occasion on home soil, delivering gold-medal performances in front of a passionate Wynberg crowd.

Wynberg, South Africa (17 December 2025) – Finals Day at the Nkosi Cup 2025 was everything indoor hockey fans could have hoped for. It was a full house at Wynberg Military Base, relentless intensity and two South African teams rising to the occasion when it mattered most. By the end of a thrilling day, history had been written as both the men’s and women’s sides lifted the Nkosi Cup, confirming South Africa’s growing stature on the global indoor hockey stage.

The South African Indoor Hockey Men wasted no time in turning the final into a spectacle. With the Wynberg crowd in full voice, powered by Tops at SPAR, the hosts exploded out of the blocks in a first quarter that will be remembered for years.

Mustapha Cassiem needed less than a minute to announce himself, opening the scoring before linking up with his brother Dayaan to double the lead. The Cassiem brothers were unstoppable!

Australia briefly responded, but South Africa’s momentum was relentless. South Africa closed out the match with composure, sealing a dominant 7–3 victory and back-to-back Nkosi Cup titles.

If the men’s final was about dominance, the women’s decider was pure drama. They could not have asked for a better start. Within two minutes, the experienced Edith Molikoe fired South Africa into the lead, setting the tone for a high-energy performance.

Australia, unbeaten through the group stages, refused to go away. However, South Africa emerged strongly in the second half, creating better chances and applying sustained pressure.

Australia managed a late goal through Annelyse Tevant to narrow the gap to 4–3, but South Africa stayed composed under pressure. When the final whistle blew, the hosts erupted in celebration, having secured their first-ever Nkosi Cup title.
