Unstoppable in Vancouver, the Blitzboks went unbeaten this weekend and added another gold medal to their HSBC SVNS haul.

Vancouver, Canada (09 March 2026) – The Blitzboks have continued their dominant run in the HSBC SVNS Series, claiming a third tournament victory in Vancouver to move level with Fiji at the top of the men’s standings. After wins in Perth and Cape Town, South Africa went through the weekend unbeaten.

Captain Impi Visser was already thinking ahead after the final whistle.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” he said of the win. “Sometimes we take it for granted but it’s an amazing feeling and we’re really grateful for it. We had a lot of changes, six changes from Perth to now and the thing we said we want to build is consistency. I think we’ve shown that through and through. We just need to keep up this momentum going into New York.”

The final against Spain was all South Africa from the start. Ryan Oosthuizen opened the scoring, with Sebastiaan Jobb and Shilton van Wyk crossing before the break.

Reaching the final wasn’t without its challenges. South Africa had to fight hard in the semi-finals against a determined Australia, eventually edging them 19-12. Spain caused a major upset in the other semi-final, beating Fiji 24-17 for only their fifth win over the Pacific Islanders.

Fiji finished third in Vancouver, claiming their fifth podium finish in five HSBC SVNS Series tournaments. South Africa and Fiji are now level on points heading into the three-tournament World Championship series.

The team that finishes top will be safe from relegation to HSBC SVNS 2, setting up an exciting conclusion to the season.
