South Africa welcomes LIV Golf for the first time, with the Southern Guards GC leading the charge on home soil.
Johannesburg, South Africa (18 March 2026) – For the first time ever, LIV Golf is coming to Africa, and South African fans are in for a real treat. From 19–22 March, The Club at Steyn City in Northern Johannesburg will host the league’s inaugural South African event, bringing top international golfers and the country’s best talent together for four days of thrilling competition.
Leading the charge is Southern Guards GC, the all-South African team captained by Louis Oosthuizen, with Dean Burmester, Charl Schwartzel, and Branden Grace rounding out the squad. All four have recorded individual LIV Golf wins and will now get to showcase their skills on home soil, supported by what promises to be some of the loudest crowds the league has ever seen.

Oosthuizen shared a taste of what fans can expect.
“Once people get there, they’re going to see this isn’t just a normal tournament. You really get to experience what LIV Golf is all about.”

The tournament will take place at The Club at Steyn City, one of South Africa’s largest and most scenic golf complexes. Designed by Jack Nicklaus in collaboration with South African architects Gary Waage and Robbie Marshall, the course stretches across 2,000 acres of elevated Highveld terrain, featuring lagoons, indigenous parkland, and wild species such as impala and springbok roaming along the Jukskei River.
With South Africa’s top players leading the charge and fans ready to cheer them on, the LIV Golf debut promises unforgettable moments and a celebration of golf like the country has never seen before.
