A community of supporters whose hearts collectively beat for wildlife has brought Care for Wild’s biggest dream to life: a brand new purpose-built, fully equipped Rhino and Wildlife Clinic!

Mpumalanga, South Africa (04 June 2026) – Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary began with just two small buildings. No bomas, no intensive care unit, no offices. Just a deep commitment to saving rhinos.

Over the past 12 years, through hard work and the support of people from all over the world, the wildlife sanctuary has evolved into a globally recognised, specialised rhino care facility.

And just recently, the organisation opened its doors to a whole new facility that will provide the best possible care to vulnerable rhinos and wildlife.

“In mid-2025, one of our greatest dreams began to take shape.  A purpose-built, fully equipped Rhino and Wildlife Clinic. A space designed not only for critically ill and injured rhinos, but also for veterinarians to be able to support wildlife in need across the province,” Care for Wild shares.

The new clinic includes a fully equipped procedure room, a dedicated wash bay for cleaning and wound management, and a crane and pulley system designed to lift and support heavy animals safely. There is also X-ray and ultrasound capability, a microscope, haematology and biochemistry analysers, an anaesthetic machine, laser therapy units, equine massage equipment, a viewing window for safe observation of veterinary procedures, and a lecture and training area.

“We have some very special people and organisations to thank for making this possible, beginning with a long-time friend and supporter. Thank you so much. Also, a huge heartfelt thank you to: RGM Cranes, Blankets for Baby Rhinos, and IDEXX. A second longstanding supporter and very dear friend, Rhino Conservation Partners and Dr James Mullen Legacy Fund.”

This fully equipped clinic will ensure that injured wildlife can be nursed back to health and returned to the wild. It is a testament to what can be achieved when hearts unite with a shared purpose: to provide the ultimate care for rhinos and wildlife.
