Pretoria lecturer Rohan Crafford and Guide Dog Jaira have been paired for an exciting new journey, and they are already proving to be a perfect match.

Pretoria, South Africa (30 July 2026) – Some partnerships are written in the stars. Others are made through careful training, trust and the perfect match of personalities.

For Guide Dog Jaira and her new partner, Rohan Crafford, an exciting new chapter has officially begun.

Based in Pretoria, Rohan is a lecturer in the languages department at the University of Pretoria, where his love for words and creativity forms an important part of his work. Outside the classroom, he enjoys poetry, composing music and singing in a choir. When he is not teaching or making music, he can often be found spending time in his garden. On the other hand, Jaira has been described as the “lady of the class”, always carrying herself with plenty of confidence.

Their match marks the beginning of a journey built on companionship, teamwork and trust. As they learn to navigate the world together, Jaira will support Rohan as his guide dog while the pair continues developing the close working relationship at the heart of every successful guide dog partnership.

The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind celebrated the new pairing, sharing portraits of the pair looking every bit the perfect match. Dressed in a navy blazer, crisp white shirt and grey trousers, Rohan cuts a smart figure beside Jaira, who stands proudly.

As Rohan and Jaira begin learning, moving and navigating the world together, their partnership will continue to grow through trust.
