This is one we haven’t seen before! A doggie showed up for welfare services in a washing basket.

Gauteng, South Africa (30 July 2026) – They show up in wheelbarrows, plastic bags, prams, toolboxes, shopper bags, and even washing baskets!

This week, the SPCA in Alberton shared a heartwarming image that spoke a thousand words. A doggie named Simone was brought in by her loving owner to be sterilised. SPCAs across the country offer low-cost public sterilisation services for pet owners who can’t afford private veterinary fees.

This little one, without a carrier of her own, arrived comfortably wrapped in her blanket, tucked inside a washing basket!

“This beautiful queen is Simone. She was brought to us for sterilization, and because her owner did not have transportation, he used this lovely laundry basket as a comfortable carrier for her,” the SPCA wrote. “Mega love to all the caring pet owners out there who do everything in their power to improve the lives of their beloved pets.”

If there’s a will, there’s always a way, the SPCA added. And it’s true. That’s exactly why we choose to shine a light on stories like this.

Yes, there is cruelty in our world, and we will always be a voice in the fight against it. But there is also incredible compassion and kindness for animals across our country. People from all backgrounds who would do anything for their beloved pets. That deserves to be celebrated too.
