Kyle and Lauren From Joburg to Jabulani By Any Means Possible for HERD!

Kyle Malyon hits the road again for HERD, this time travelling from Joburg to Jabulani by just about every mode of transport imaginable!

Johannesburg, South Africa (05 August 2026) – Two years after riding around SA to raise funds for orphaned elephants, Kyle Malyon is gearing up for another adventure for a cause close to his heart.

This World Elephant Day (12 August), he’ll be joined by Lauren Lewis as the pair travel from Johannesburg to Jabulani, home of HERD, using as many different forms of transport as they can squeeze into a single day.

The journey has been aptly dubbed ‘From Joburg to Jabulani… By Any Means Possible.’

And they really mean it! The day will begin on skateboards before the pair swap wheels several times over, travelling by Gautrain, motorcycle, bus and even a beautifully restored 1961 Bentley on their way to Kapama, where HERD’s elephant family calls home. More transport options may even be added along the way.

The unusual road trip holds the goal of raising awareness and much-needed funds for HERD, SA’s first dedicated elephant orphanage.

We reported on Kyle’s previous fundraising adventure in 2024, when he completed a solo 21-day motorbike ride around the country, also in support of HERD. That journey covered thousands of kilometres across every province, raising funds while shining a light on the organisation’s work caring for orphaned and abandoned elephants.

This year’s challenge may be shorter, but it promises to be just as memorable. When Kyle and Lauren arrive at Jabulani, they’ll hand over a donation to the HERD Trust to help care for the elephants.

Through several fundraising events, they’ve already managed to raise R18,500 towards their R25,000 goal, with hopes of adding even more before setting off.

Anyone who would like to support the campaign can donate through their fundraising drive, while people with an interesting vehicle are also invited to become part of the adventure by offering Kyle and Lauren a lift for one leg of the journey.

HERD, based in Kapama Private Game Reserve, has spent years giving orphaned and vulnerable elephants the specialised care they need while also supporting conservation research, environmental education and community upliftment. The organisation continues to rely on public support to make that work possible.

Kyle’s latest adventure is another reminder that there are countless ways to support a cause you care about. Sometimes it starts with a motorcycle. Sometimes it’s a skateboard. And sometimes, if you’re lucky, it’s a ride in a vintage Bentley on the way to making a difference for South Africa’s gentle giants.
