The three-year-old Pitbull has overcome serious leg injuries and surgery, and is now looking for a family of his own.

Cape Town, South Africa (07 September 2026) – Mufasa might have a king-sized name, but there’s one thing missing from his kingdom: a family to call his own.

The three-year-old Pitbull has spent 1,222 days at TEARS Animal Rescue, watching the world go by from his kennel and waiting for someone to decide that he is the one.

And while Mufasa can take a little time to warm up, once he decides you’re a friend, prepare yourself for plenty of kisses, tail wags and affection.

He is gentle, loving and eager to please, and seems happiest when life is calm and he has time to build a bond with his humans.  He also enjoys scenic walks, splashing around in water, cuddles, scratches and the occasional case of the zoomies.

Mufasa has luxating patellas and recently underwent surgery on both of his back legs after suffering cruciate ligament injuries.

Thankfully, a kind-hearted volunteer helped raise the funds needed for his operations, and Mufasa is now recovering in a foster home while he gets back on his paws.

TEARS Animal Rescue is now hoping that Mufasa can go straight from his foster home into the forever home he has been waiting for.

After more than 1,200 days in kennels, he deserves a soft bed, a safe space and people who will give him the chance to show them just how much love he has to offer. All he needs now is someone willing to open the door.
