It was all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows for rescue doggies in Krugersdorp this week!
Johannesburg, South Africa (14 September 2026) – Teams at SOVA Rescue Centre and Friends of Rescued Animals (FORA) brought their socialised rescue pups together for a photoshoot this week. The theme was… lollipops!
Both animal shelters are based in Gauteng and are committed to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming vulnerable, abused or neglected dogs and cats.
Adoption is the greatest thing that can happen for a rescue doggie, but it isn’t always easy to let the world know that these precious four-pawed friends are looking for new homes. And so, sometimes, shelters need to get creative.
Organisations host ‘open days’ where the public can meet potential forever family members in person, while social media is a great tool that most shelters use to get the word out about adoptable rescues. We’ve even seen music videos made about rescue dogs looking for their forever homes!
Animal welfare teams are often willing to go the extra mile to bring more awareness to the vulnerable souls in their care who are looking for forever homes.
This week, SOVA and FORA busted out the lollipops and gathered their well-behaved rescue dogs for a photoshoot. The results are sweeter than honey and will hopefully spark interest and help find these babies forever homes. Just look at these faces!
“Different dogs, different stories, different rescues and shelters, but all deserving of a little sweetness, a safe place to land, and someone to love them.” shares SOVA Rescue Centre.
“And here’s the really important part, every single one of these gorgeous faces are looking for their forever home.”
