It’s patty time! Cape Town comes in buns blazing, landing two spots on the 50 Best Burgers in the World ranking.

Cape Town, South Africa (06 November 2026) – Looking for a good excuse to grab a burger this weekend? You’ve got a great one. Cape Town is officially home to two of the world’s best!

Global travel site Big 7 Travel has released its annual list of the 50 Best Burgers in the World, featuring all kinds from classic American cheeseburgers and smash burgers to Japanese Wagyu deliciousness.

The ranking judges each spot on what matters most when you sit down for a proper burger: the patty, the build (a bun, cheese, toppings and sauce that come together just right), signature must-try creations, diner reviews, atmosphere and value.

Two of South Africa’s most popular burger joints made the cut, and both are in Cape Town, which Big 7 Travel calls one of the world’s most exciting burger cities!

At #17, Clarke’s Bar & Dining Room earns big-ups for a burger Big 7 Travel calls ‘the real star of the show.’ Made with the best South African beef, it earns its spot as top world contender for being a good old-fashioned burger that’s succulent, flavourful and cooked so well you’ll be craving more.

Just behind at #22, Zuney Wagyu Burgers is hailed as a ‘truly South African beef burger at its best.’ The local favourite, which now has a Johannesburg branch too, is praised for using Wagyu beef from its own farms right here in SA. The ranking recommends the classic cheeseburger, or the bacon and cheese for those who want a little extra meat.

Taking the top spot overall is Hamburger America in New York City, followed by Bunsen Burger in Ireland in second and Black Bear Burger in London in third.

Go along friends. Go and be the person in the group chat who says ‘burgers this weekend?’ You’ve got two good reasons.
