Vernon Rudman and Liza Vivier will tackle the three-day mountain bike race to raise awareness and support for the work of the organisation’s inspectors.

Western Cape, South Africa (06 November 2026) – Two cyclists will be taking on the 2026 FNB Wines2Whales Chardonnay race this weekend, using the challenge to raise awareness and support for animal welfare. This is a thrilling and scenic three-day mountain biking extravaganza!

Nestled in the heart of South Africa’s captivating Western Cape, the race is a celebration of all things MTB, offering riders an incredible opportunity to conquer challenging trails while soaking in the breathtaking beauty of the landscapes. The three-day race will see the pair tackle challenging trails, steep climbs and demanding mountain biking routes, all in support of the SPCA’s inspectors, who work to rescue animals from cruelty, neglect and other forms of suffering.

Vernon Rudman and Liza Vivier will represent the Cape of Good Hope SPCA through its Ride2Rescue campaign, with the organisation also named as an official charity beneficiary of this year’s event.

The campaign aims to highlight the work these inspectors do in communities and encourage greater support for the organisation’s efforts to protect vulnerable animals.

The SPCA has welcomed its inclusion as a charity beneficiary, thanking the event organisers for helping bring greater attention to animal welfare.

Members of the public can also support Rudman and Vivier’s fundraising efforts, with donations going towards the organisation’s work.

The cyclists’ participation is a reminder that sporting challenges can also be used to support causes beyond the finish line.
