The talent convention in New York has launched the careers of industry professionals such as Ashton Kutcher, Elijah Wood, Eva Longoria, Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes and so many more.
South Africa (25 February 2023) – A 15-year-old Fourways resident has been invited to one of the biggest talent competitions in the world, opening up doors for this young South African to be our next local Hollywood starlet.
Brooklyn McAlpine might only be 15 years old but her talent is already being spoken about both locally and abroad.
“Brooklyn was a very anxious and insecure little girl, so we signed her up for modelling and singing lessons to build her confidence and literally to help her find her voice. Little did we know that the universe was at work in moulding her future,” Ursula McDonald, Brooklyn’s mom, explained.
“Our little girl would quite literally come alive on stage.”
After three years of lessons, Brooklyn won the Junior Miss Teen Ace Models International title at the 2022 national conference. She went on to audition in September for the International Arts Talent Showcase. She was awarded Top Female Model at the Gauteng audition and received callbacks to sing and model at the three-day International Talent and Arts Showcase, where she would have an opportunity to perform in front of 10 celebrity judges from the US. She was also privileged to be selected to model in the Ford Models production.
“Brooklyn was ecstatic when we received the callback at 3.15 am on Sunday that she was selected to attend IMTA in NY.”
IMTA is where talent agents, managers and casting directors come to find new faces in the industry. The convention has launched the careers of industry professionals such as Ashton Kutcher, Elijah Wood, Eva Longoria, Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes and more.
Following intensive training sessions at two boot camps in January and March, Brooklyn is set to take to the stage in New York to showcase her talent to the world.
“Being under 18 is a huge advantage for Brooklyn, given her natural talent at such a young age. If we are able to make her dream come true, she will use this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make South Africa proud while she represents us as an ambassador to showcase what African talent is made of.”
“This could be her biggest opportunity for a bright international career in modelling or singing, which does not often present itself.”
We think Brooklyn McAlpine might be a name the world recognises in a couple of months’ time!
