The lockable bookcases were handmade by the Dainfern community, and will now go on to foster a love for reading amongst children in Diepsloot.
Johannesburg, South Africa (10 September 2026) – A group of Dainfern residents who are upskilling themselves in hobby and DIY skills have donated their woodwork creations to a cause that makes a difference.
Four beautifully handcrafted mobile libraries have been handed over to the Wot-If? Trust in Diepsloot!

The Dainferm Community Workshop is a not-for-profit skills development and hobby shop based at Dainfern Residential Estate. The initiative was started by Michael Minassian with support from The Dainfern Homeowners Association. The members’ club provides training and practice in woodworking, metalworking and other hobby and DIY skills provided by Michael, with support from other experienced members.

Their latest lockable bookcase creations have now been passed on to the Diepsloot trust, which focuses on developing women and youth through education and entrepreneurship.
The donation was made in partnership with Bags of Love, another local non-profit that fills donated handbags with daily essentials for women, babies, and vulnerable individuals in crisis.

“On Friday, 4 September, members of the Dainfern Community Workshop (DCW), together with Susan Harwood from Bags of Love, delivered four beautifully handcrafted mobile libraries to the wot-if? Trust in Diepsloot.
Created by our talented DCW members, the lockable bookcases will help encourage a love of reading amongst children in the community.
A huge thank you to the DCW members, Bags of Love, Mr Naidoo and our generous Dainfern residents who donated 300 books to fill the libraries.” shared Dainfern Golf Estate on Facebook.
If you’d like to contribute toward filling up the new mobile libraries with wonderful children’s books, donations can be made to Bags of Love.
