Hundreds of passionate VW enthusiasts gathered for the Beetle Maniacs car show, not only to showcase their stunning cars but to rev for a cause, donating over 377kg of pet food and raising funds with good-luck belly rubs, all for the beloved Cluny Animal Trust!
Clarens, South Africa (07 October 2025) – What happens when passionate car enthusiasts and devoted animal advocates join forces? You get a truly amazing car show where every rev of an engine echoes with hope for animals in need of love and care!
Back in 2023, the BeetleManiacs – South Africa (The First Edition) brought their infectious enthusiasm and compassion to Clarens, choosing the Cluny Animal Trust as their charity cause for their annual gathering. It was so good the club decided to do it once again, returning to the scenic small town for a tail-wagging cause.

“Around 200 VWs, with exactly 100 of the ‘iconic bugs’, made their way to Clarens yesterday [Friday, 3 October], and the arrival of the convoys from all over the country was amazing,” the Cluny Animal Trust shares.
“All sorts of VWs, stretched out on our roads as far as the eye could see, with the stunning Maluti Mountains as their backdrop. Clarenites gathered at the entrance of the village to welcome them as they had travelled from the four corners of SA to be here.”
The Cluny team set up a station at the Mountain Monkey on Saturday, where the Bettle Maniacs held their competition with Dr Elsa and Jan part of the judging panel of some truly amazing cars.
Attendees and participants were encouraged to donate food and blankets to the Cluny team, leaving them blown away by the love and support.
“377kgs of pet food as well as lots of donations made, and tons of people bought our annual Sweepstakes tickets as well.”
A true highlight of the day? A man named Dave managed to raise R1,540 by letting people rub his belly for good luck before they bought a Sweepstakes ticket!
“We are truly honoured to be a part of this amazing event. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all of these wonderful people for absolutely everything!
“And no matter where you live in SA, please know that you have made a difference to the lives of many animals here in the eastern Free State,” the Cluny team thanked with full hearts.
