Bosco is a big-hearted dog that experienced debilitating injuries while waiting for his forever home for four very long years. When South Africans learned about his plight, they reached deep into their pockets to raise vital funds for his life-changing surgery.
Cape Town, South Africa (25 February 2025) – A lot of the time, the world can feel like a rough and tough place -something old boy Bosco knows very well. However, the kindness of South Africans always has a way of shining through the darkness!
Thanks to those who rose and rallied to help when they learned about Bosco’s injury, this special dog was able to receive one of the crucial surgeries he needed to cure his disability.
This dog has had a tough life and was terribly traumatised when he found his way through TEARS Animal Rescue’s welcoming doors. While waiting for his forever home for more than four years, he destroyed both cruciate ligaments in his hind legs.
A cruciate ligament rupture is usually extremely painful, and the knee joint becomes unstable, resulting in lameness.
Refusing to let Bosco endure undeserved, prolonged pain, Kirsten, a dedicated TEARS volunteer and Bosco’s biggest fan, rallied fellow animal lovers to help raise R40,000 to ensure he got the procedure at Vetscape Animal Hospital!
Although Bosco is recovering well, he still needs his second cruciate surgery. Now, Kirsten is on a mission to get him back on the operating table for the second procedure he desperately needs.
The TEARS team longs for nothing but to change this boy’s life for the better. Part of this entails getting him back on his feet, running on the beach again and placing him in a loving home!
“We are raising funds for four other TEARS doggos needing surgeries. Slowly, we will get there. Dollar amounts go far in South Africa, so even the price of a coffee will help tremendously,” the team appealed.
