A massive hail storm in Bloemfontein which could almost be mistaken for a snow storm has taken over social media with crazy pictures.

A massive hailstorm has hit Bloemfontein in the Free State, with many taking to social media and describing “knee-deep” hail.

The thick layer of hail, which could almost be mistaken for snow, covered the streets of Bloemfontein.

The hail caused quite a bot of damage in the drought stricken area. Water and thick slabs of ice filled the streets causing a lot of traffic problems.

Diego Rodrigues, who also posted a video to Facebook of the storm told Traveller24,”The storm didn’t look like much as it started. I have experienced a few hail storms in the past, but this was something else.

“A pretty scary yet amazing to experience how powerful mother nature can be.”

Even with the damage, people on social media reacted with relief and have expressed how happy they are to receiving the rain.
