In the demanding work of animal rescue, a reliable set of wheels is often the difference between a life saved and a chance missed, which is why the Soshanguve Animal Shelter were moved to tears when the owner of an automotive repair shop stepped in to get them back on the road!
Soshanguve, South Africa (11 March 2026) – The Soshanguve Animal Shelter and Educentre NPC’s vehicles are the heart of their rescue work. So when they started giving the team issues last month, it seriously affected their ability to respond to emergencies, cruelty cases or collect sick and injured animals.
Their smaller Opel Corsa had an issue with misfiring, while the bigger Nissan Navara bakkie had stopped starting altogether.
“At first, we thought it was just the battery because we were constantly jump-starting it. After checking around, we were told it could be the starter that needs replacement.
“Our second bakkie is running, but it is misfiring. This makes it unreliable and unsafe, and very difficult for us to attend to urgent cases,” organisation said.
Responding to the urgency of the issue, they were able to get the big bakkie to the Delon Williams Automotive workshop.
“We were very worried because we rely on this vehicle for rescues, vet visits and transporting animals in need. Thanks to Delon’s hard work and dedication, the Navara is now running smoothly and driving beautifully again.”
Not only are they back on the road, but the repair work didn’t cost the Soshanguve Animal Shelter a cent!
“What made this even more incredible was the huge surprise we received when we asked how much we owed for the repairs. Delon told us that everything was absolutely free. We were truly humbled by such kindness,” the team shared.
The workshop owner, Delon, generously purchased the Navara’s service kit, starter motor and idler pulleys, and also adjusted the brakes and callipers to make sure everything is safe and working perfectly.

Fixing the vehicle would have cost the animal welfare an arm and a leg, on top of having to pay for car insurance. With hearts filled with gratitude at the joy of being back on the road at no cost, Soshanguve Animal Shelter thanked Delron for showing them Ubuntu in a time of great need.
