Thanks to rhino lovers and the conservation community, Wild Rhino Sanctuary’s Mounted Unit gets to saddle up in style thanks to new saddles for their courageous patrollers.

South Africa (09 July, 2023) — Over R50 000 trotted toward helping the Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary’s Mounted Unit recently! Thanks to contributions from conservationists and horse lovers across the world, the team was able to upgrade their worn and damaged saddles for new, better fits.

You might know the Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary for its little stars like Daisy the Rhino and now tiny Mpho who’s stealing hearts across the world. Their happy-ending stories go hand-in-hand with the rescuing teams that kept an eye out for their protection, which is why making sure teams like the Mounted Unit have the best gear for their courageous patrolling is important.

The Sanctuary shared the exciting saddle news recently, expressing that it’s an incredible help to their rescuers who do a lot of their surveillance via horseback; allowing them further access into rugged areas.

“Thank you so much to everyone who donated and shared to raise awareness. Each and every single person made such an impact and we are so grateful for your loyal and dedicated support.”—Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary.

Meanwhile, in other anti-poaching hero news, a man from the United Kingdom is trekking to South Africa via bicycle to raise funds for the first all-female anti-poaching unit worldwide—South Africa’s The Black Mambas.
