Christmas was at risk of looking a little gloomy for Dogtown South Africa, what with all the unadopted animals in their care. Then came Sam and Judy who shot the lights out with a dog-friendly Christmas spread that had all tails wagging!

Gauteng, South Africa (07 January 2025) — For many charities in South Africa, the festive season is a particularly pressing time. Christmas spreads aren’t often front of mind. Instead, getting through the month and planning survival for the months ahead takes preference. Animal shelters often endure an uptick in pets to care for, children’s homes do their very best to stretch their means to afford small gifts for the youngsters and feeding programmes are inundated with requests. For Dogtown South Africa, Christmas was at risk of looking a little gloomy, what with all the unadopted animals in their care. Then came Sam and Judy.

Samantha Laing and Judy Tipograph made it their festive mission to make sure that the Dogtown dogs received a full Christmas spread. As proud supporters of the organisation, Sam and Judy know how much work Dogtown does year-round and how many animals’ lives they impact for the better. So, what better way to thank them for their efforts than to turn a tough time into a delicious one?

Sam and Judy whipped up a full feast for the animals. After hours in the kitchen, they served a meal any dog would go absolutely nuts for: boneless chicken breast, chicken livers, butternut, spinach and rice, all in a tail-wagging broth.

This feast made not only for a fantastic festive breakfast but also dinner thanks to the amount of scrumptious servings available.

“We always feel a bit sorry for ourselves on Christmas Day, looking at all the dogs who are waiting and hoping to be adopted. But our hearts were full on Christmas Day while dishing up for the dogs, boy oh boy were they spoiled!”

“Thank you so much Judy and Sam for making this day so special for the incredible dogs of Dogtown.”—Dogtown South Africa.
