Amit Shimoni is an artist with a creative imagination. One of his projects has been to imagine World Leaders as Hipsters and he captures Mandela beautifully.
Amit Shimoni started an art series called Hipstory. Its a series of portraits featuring world leaders, only they have been reimagined as hipsters. The series includes people like Mahatma Gandhi, Barrack Obama, Princess Diana and Nelson Mandela to name a few.
The images are striking and show a great talent for capturing a person as they are but in a whole new setting. Obviously, we were very taken with the images of Mandela. Amit honoured Mandela on Mandela Day with a post to remember him and honour his life.

“I am a young designer and illustrator, I like to engage with the gaps between reality and imagination. My favourite project must be HIPSTORY – a series of drawings that attempt to create a new and altered portrait of iconic figures of the 20th century, by placing them in different time and culture.”
“At the end, my idea is to give today’s generation access to history’s leaders and creating a world of ongoing HISTORY.”
