South African TikTok has been buzzing and somehow Robbie Wessels has landed right at the centre of the confusion.

Johannesburg, South Africa (23 April 2026) – There’s a new “song” doing the rounds on TikTok and somehow Robbie Wessels has found himself right in the middle of it… whether he planned to or not.

Robbie Wessels, yes… that Robbie, suddenly has people convinced he dropped a brand-new (very bizarre) song. It’s called “vang jou poep en ryk hom.” For those needing a translation (and maybe a moment to process it)… that loosely means “catch your fart and smell it.”

Yes. That’s where we are. Welcome to the internet in 2026.

Robbie has been a household name in South Africa for years, known for his offbeat humour, catchy Afrikaans tracks and roles in films like Poena is Koning. So when he posted a video dancing along to this bizarre tune, it didn’t take long for the internet to do what it does best… jump to conclusions.

The video has already clocked over 1.3 million views on TikTok, with thousands of comments pouring in from confused, amused and slightly concerned fans who were convinced this was his latest release.

“Jo musiek het regtig super tos geraak!!!”

“Watse kak is die😔”

“Ek love jou music maar die 1 verstaan ek nie ..”

We did what any responsible newsroom would do (read: we scrolled deep into the comments and did some light detective work), and quickly realised that it’s not Robbie’s song at all.

The track was actually created by someone called “Wingnut”, and, from what we can gather, it’s likely AI-generated and has somehow taken on a life of its own. TikTok users across South Africa have latched onto it, turning it into a full-blown trend with videos popping up everywhere.

It might be the strangest thing you hear all week… but it’s also probably the thing that you can’t get out of your head. A proper kak song. But a funny one.
