A British fiancé’s trip to South Africa sparks an unexpected obsession with Springbok jerseys, showing how our culture can convert anyone.
South Africa (05 January 2026) – When people go on trips, some return from a holiday with souvenirs. Others come back with a tan. Anja Goosen’s British fiancé came back from his first trip to South Africa with an obsession with the national rugby team, the Springboks.
In an Instagram video, Anja shows just how deep that love runs. Almost every clip features her fiancé in a different Springbok jersey. Looks like he’s building his own personal collection of every Springbok jersey out there. Old kits, new designs, home and away versions. According to Anja, getting him to wear anything outside of green and gold has become a real challenge.
The transformation began five years ago when she brought him to South Africa for the first time. Since then, the combination of local culture, braai’s and Springbok rugby has had him in its grip. And who can blame him? As four-time Rugby World Cup champions, their appeal often extends far beyond the country’s borders.
Many joked that South Africa has a way of leaving its mark on people. One visit, a bit of South African hospitality, and suddenly a British fiancé is building a wardrobe full of Springbok jerseys.
