Twitter has had a field day with a statement made by Cassper Nyovest’s on a popular American radio show. And we don’t think Africa’s Kanye is going to be very happy.

Cassper Nyovest’s latest appearance on a US radio show, Sway in the Morning, has sparked funny reaction from Twitter users who are baffled by the rapper’s self-acclaimed title as the “Kanye West of South Africa”.

Nyovest was invited to perform on Sway Calloway’s show on Wednesday and received some well-deserved praise and congratulations from his fans and American’s listening in on the show.

The full interview has since been shared. (You can watch it below.)

On the segment Nyovest is inundated with questions by Sway about American influences on SA hip-hop.

Asked how important America is to South African hip-hop artists, Nyovest says “America is like our home. We admire America so much, well the hip-hop culture there…”

He adds: “A compliment in South Africa, like they call me the Kanye West of South Africa… in terms of creativity and pushing boundaries and just being and individual.”

WARNING: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE.

And while his diehard fans continue to defend Nyovest, others are having a field day with the statement.
