Armed with R10 notes in hand and a chocolate cake, three kind men surprised an unsuspecting cleaner with a song and dance, before showering him with the gifts that left him at an absolute loss for words!

South Africa (20 August 2025) – There’s the popular adage that goes: “it’s the little things that matter”, and this couldn’t be truer for an unsuspecting cleaner who received the sweetest surprise from three kind strangers.

A video shared by one of the trio, @sinkwa.sabantu shows the men from behind, walking towards the cleaner. Each of them is seen holding a R10 note, with one of them also holding a chocolate cake.

With evident excitement in every step, they eventually approach the cleaner, who is seen going about his job. To his surprise, they begin singing and dancing while showering him with the cash and cake, as the biggest smile cracks on the cleaner’s face!

“To us, you’re not just a cleaner, you’re a brother. What a beautiful soul you are, my king. You are loved,” the TikTok post was captioned.

It was a joyful moment of brotherhood and appreciation that has truly struck a chord with South African social media users, with over 2.2M views and over 15,100 comments!

While many people reacted with adoring messages praising the kind trio for making the cleaners’ day, others offered to send them money to continue spreading kindness and joy to many others.

Sometimes, it really is the little things that make an impact, touch a life, or just make another day on the grind all the more rewarding. R30 and a cake were all it took to make a man feel seen, valued and appreciated, not just for his honest work but for who he is. The cherry on top? It has inspired a nation to pay it forward to many others.

If this doesn’t speak to the powerful impact of the kindness of our people, I don’t know what does.
