With back-to-back Rugby Championship clashes on the horizon, New Zealand players star in a light hearted ad poking fun at South African supporters.
New Zealand (31 August 2025) – Springbok fans might not like this one. A cheeky new TV advert airing in New Zealand is poking fun at South African rugby supporters just as the Springboks land in the country for their back-to-back Rugby Championship tests.
Three All Blacks players feature in the clip, including Ardie Savea, teasing Springbok fans ahead of the much-anticipated clashes between the two rugby powerhouses.
Rugby commentator and digital content creator Jordan Buhrs also shared the ad on TikTok, showing what is currently playing on Sky New Zealand, a broadcaster much like South Africa’s DSTV.
In the advert, South African actor Hennie Jacobs plays a Bok supporter who strolls into a New Zealand barbershop.
“The World Champs are coming. The All Blacks will be like little lamb chops on a braai,” the fan declares while getting a haircut. Second mistake! The first mistake was walking into a New Zealand barber shop with a Springbok shirt.
But the tables quickly turn. The barber mischievously carves a fern (the All Blacks’ iconic emblem) into the back of his head.
In the waiting area, stars like Ardie Savea laugh at the prank. “Nice fade, bro.” Cannot imagine the anger of that Springbok fan when they get home with a fern instead of a Springbok on the back of their head.
Jordan then challenged Savea to return the favour. Here is the challenge: if the All Blacks fall short against the Springboks, then Savea must get the Springboks logo shaved into his own hair.
