This is what the internet says you should do if your housekeeper irons on your dining room table.

A South African took to the internet after her housekeeper damaged her dining table while ironing, and the advice that was offered will leave you in tears… of laughter.

It is amazing how South Africans constantly find humour in the most amazing of places, even when an expensive piece of furniture has been damaged by an accident.

Lauren Küsel Badenhorst, posted a picture of her newly ironed dining room table with a very serious question to the “I Love Fourways” group which quickly turned into a very funny conversation.

“My domestic ironed directly on my dining room table. Any suggestions who or where to get this fixed?”

Some social media users offered their advice on how to fix the table, or perhaps just fix Badenhort’s grammar.

Graham Donald commented: “*former domestic.”

Abbegail Burnham-Price advised: “Use wood oil and leave it to stand white mark will come away, otherwise use a domestic training academy.”

Richard Niyaki added: “Leave it alone! Abstract art is the newest craze!”

Carole Baguley Hickman said: “Buy an ironing board”

Steven Honeyborne offered: “I have a really good domestic, available on Tuesdays!”

While others offered advice about the “moisture”?

Viv Gien said: “Put salt or bicarbonate on top.. it will absorb the moisture”

Anthony Haugland added: “I think it is mostly devoid of moisture at this point!”

But it was the conversations about Mayonnaise that really had everyone laughing!

Shills Kerry advised: “Mayonnaise on table over night”

Lindy Jeffery then asked: “And then what!”

Lev Govender answered: “To stop her from ironing there the next day”

Another user suggested Mayonnaise with a little mixture.

Violet Malherbe said: “Mayonnaise and olive oil mix and apply”

Wayne Russell added: “And let’s add some chicken and red wine and invite a few people over for a dinner party”

But the truth is, we all make mistakes and that was one thing that all of the commentators agreed on.

Jassy Mackenzie concluded “Shame, these things happen, it is best to laugh about it, and if a few scars remain, it only adds character. Life is not about having a perfect table, but about a great story behind a slightly imperfect one!”

Lauren Küsel Badenhorst added: “Exactly. I 100% agree. Some goods come of it. I get a new style table. Life’s too short to sweat the small stuff.”

Have you ever messed up at work and had to face your boss with a brave face?
