What started as an auto-correct fail has turned into a heartwarming rally of support for a local Lebanese bakery in Cape Town.

Cape Town, South Africa (10 June 2025) – When Nathan-Ross Adams made a query regarding a local Lebanese bakery recently, he never dreamed the post would gather as much attention as it did. You see, Nathan’s phone made a slight spelling adjustment as he hit publish, and before he even realised it, the Cape Town community were jumping on board with all the jokes.

He was looking for community insights for the local Lebanese bakery; however, his phone changed the word to Lesbian. The comment section quickly filled up with jokers and supporters of the LGBTQIA+, feeling disappointed that the Lesbian Bakery wasn’t real.

Many of the commenters who loved the funny typo ended up heading over to the Lebanese Bakery and Kitchen to show their support, liking their social media posts and even popping into their direct messages.

The bakery didn’t miss the moment either and took to the post before the comments were turned off, to share their heartfelt thanks to Nathan for stirring up so much chatter about the business.

“Hey Nathan-Ross Adams…thanks for the shout out. Our DM’s are blowing up. 🤣 As a way of saying thank you for the extra attention, we would love to invite you for a private tasting with Chef. This way, you can be the judge! Reviews are like opinions and we know what people say about those. 🤭Come and taste some happiness with us! Drop us a private message and we’ll arrange the rest!” – Lebanese Bakery and Kitchen

Aside from the many tasteful and the few distasteful jokes, the post was just filled with lots of love for the bakery, for the LGBTQIA+ community, and for human moments, where mistakes happen and we support people instead of belittling them. It was wholesome to see the Cape Town community turn the moment into something to be proud of.

So, if you are keen for a little chuckle, you can check out the post here. And head on over to the Lebanese Bakery on Instagram to support them here.
