A user-made video showing the “very simple” way the new ABSA logo was created is going viral, and we all cannot stop laughing.
A new dawn. A new Absa. A new hilarious internet video! We love South Africa’s sense of humour!
Barclays Africa Group Limited has officially been renamed Absa Group Limited and started trading under its new name and new share code (ABG) on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange as of yesterday 11 July 2018. The name change marks the start of a new era for the group as a standalone African group with a new brand design fit for a forward-looking business in a digital age.
No longer just a South African brand, the new Absa Group has a presence in 12 African countries and plans to open international offices in the UK and the US.
“With this change in name, we have the extraordinary opportunity to take the best of what we have built, and move ahead with a new purpose: to bring your possibility to life. Our new purpose is driving everything we do.
We are so inspired by our African continent, and the unique ability that Africans have to find ways to get things done, we coined a name for it: we call it Africanacity.” – Maria Ramos, Chief Executive Officer for Absa Group Limited
The group also launched a new, fresh and vibrant Absa logo and identity but the internet has no chill.
It could never be easy launching a new brand within an already existing established brand, especially when the market is most of Africa (and almost everyone is pretty familiar with the ABSA brand already).
The bank has taken some serious kick-back with the new logo launch but this video takes the cake.
