While on camp, these Grade 10 learners from SACS High School got themselves in a hilarious debate, each convinced that their method of starting a fire is the best.

Newlands, South Africa (26 October 2025) –  Have you ever argued with friends over the “right” way to start a braai fire? Well, these Grade 10 learners from SACS High School took that debate to a whole new level. Out on camp, the grade 10 boys found themselves locked in a lively disagreement over how to get their fire going. Just complete with strong opinions, lots of interruptions, and endless laughter.

The video, shared by This is Cape Town’s social media pages, captures the chaos perfectly. One boy insists, “Oxygen! Fuel! Fuel!” while another argues the fire needs a gentle touch.

The back-and-forth is relentless and every boy is determined to prove he knows best. One even warned not to leave the fire with the one friend.

“If we leave you with the fire, it will be gone!”

Watching them, it’s impossible not to smile. The boys are full of energy and curiosity, experimenting, debating and figuring things out as a team.

Their passion for getting it right will have you in stitches.

We all wonder if that fire eventually came to life, because real spark was the debates and shared laughter.
