On their 2025 Eurotour, the choir brings the beauty of African choral tradition to Prague, performing under twinkling Christmas lights.

Czech Republic, Prague (15 December 2025) – Have you ever heard the phrase “Africa always sings”?

This saying couldn’t be truer for the University of Pretoria Youth Choir, who recently took their talents all the way from Africa to Prague for the 2025 Eurotour. Captured in a video posted on TikTok, the choir’s performance is captioned simply: “Africa to Prague, this is how we do it.”

Under Christmas lights, the choir delivered a rendition of “Hlonolofatse”, a song in SeSotho which translates to “blessings.” The soothing harmonies of their voices filled the space, drawing in passersby. The UP Youth Choir reminded us that music is not just sound but a connection. Going back to the quote “Africa Always Sings”, it’s a way of telling stories, celebrating joy and sharing hope.

For lovers of choral music, this glimpse of the UP Youth Choir offers a taste of South Africa’s rich choral traditions.
