Videos ‘South Africanizing’ (or naazing) celebrities has us looking at A-list celebs with more nods of approval. From Dua Lapa to Vin Unleaded, you’re in for an ‘only locals will understand’ laugh:

South Africa (19 May, 2023) — There are some things only South Africans will understand in that core-memory, ‘these items built my cultural identity’ sense. And, these videos South Africanizing (or naazing) celebrities have understood the assignment, leaving us laughing, in South African.

South African artist, Joburg-based Bia Winterbach (Buh) took it upon herself to give international celebrities a unique makeover that’d integrate them into any corner of our country more smoothly than Ultra Mel custard.

From ‘Dua Lapa’ to ‘Vin Unleaded’, get ready to chuckle like you’re in Woolies’ treats aisle.

But, Buh’s South African-inspired videos don’t stop there. Ever wondered what it would be like to turn staples in our country into baby names? Probably not. However, this creator did, and the results are definitely fitting.

Say what you will but ‘Pothole’ pronounced with a different emphasis could easily find its way into the next season of Bridgerton.

And, when she isn’t making Mzansi laugh, Buh’s music takes the forefront.

Harnessing a vivid imagination—an asset to humour and music artistry—Buh is building her music career in the unique spaces between laughter’s end and beat’s beginning.

Now all we need is the song version of her next South Africanized saga.

Keep up with her Doom microphone and Billie Eilish-giving vocals here.
