Many big names have joined the scores of tourists visiting Cape Town this summer. The latest South Africans were proud to host? Iain Armitage—AKA Young Sheldon!
Cape Town, South Africa (25 March 2025) — As tourists, digital nomads and influencers alike continue to flock to Cape Town, many celebrities have also joined the call to adventure in seeing what the Mother City’s magic is all about. One of the latest famous faces reportedly spotted in Cape Town? None other than Iain Armitage, AKA ‘Young Sheldon’!
TikTok user ‘secretl1feof.jay” shared a clip of ‘Young Sheldon’ talking to the camera, much to the delight of many South African fans (many of whom unapologetically urged Iain to visit other parts of the country). The user later shared that they encountered Iain at the V&A Waterfront—info that certainly led some mega-fans to kick themselves for not having gone shopping that day.

Who is ‘Young Sheldon’?
Young Sheldon tells the story of the famously awkward genius Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory (BBT). Set decades before Sheldon Cooper meets Leonard, Penny or Raj, Young Sheldon tells the stories of Sheldon’s childhood in Texas as brought to life by the talented Iain.
Beyond the Waterfront, the actor has been enjoying other must-do experiences in Cape Town, including boat rides and seal-watching moments.
