The new non-profit initiative will mentor, coach, and support young South African boxers, providing the tools and guidance to turn passion into professional careers.

South Africa (10 March 2026) –  From the ring to real impact, Golden Gloves is stepping up in an impactful way! The iconic South African boxing promoter is now giving back to the next generation of fighters, creating opportunities that go far beyond the ropes.

The foundation has been introduced as part of a broader vision to expand Golden Gloves’ role beyond staging major boxing events and into actively supporting the growth of the sport and its athletes.

According to Nivi Grogor, the initiative is designed to create a clear pathway for young boxers, helping them move from the grassroots level into the professional ranks.

“The Foundation is a talent funnel: a structured pathway from grassroots discovery to professional boxing and global competition. With this, our mission is clear: to scout, mentor, and professionally coach emerging boxing talent across South Africa, providing them with the tools, guidance, and exposure to make boxing a viable career.”

From 2026, the foundation will begin identifying promising young athletes and offering them structured coaching programmes, mentorship and opportunities to progress towards professional boxing. The initiative also aims to expand opportunities for fighters across the African continent.

The foundation looks to strengthen existing support for current and retired boxers, offering coaching, mentorship, education, and medical assistance.

“We are taking it a step further, focusing on socio-economic upliftment, skills development, and giving emerging talent a platform to compete professionally and international.”

Through the new foundation, Golden Gloves hopes to strengthen the future of South African boxing by creating opportunities for emerging fighters while providing ongoing support to athletes at different stages of their careers.
