A simple stationery donation is so much more than a pencil or an exercise book to a disadvantaged learner. It sends a powerful message that their education matters and that someone out there cares. Pharos Community Centre invites you to help its children step into the new school year with confidence and dignity.
Pretoria, South Africa (18 September 2026) – For many children, the excitement of a new school year comes with the reality of school uniforms, books, stationery and other essential supplies that their families may struggle to afford.
This is where Pharos Community Centre stands in the gap to make a difference.
Through its annual Stationery Drive, Pharos collects school supplies and distributes them to learners from vulnerable and financially disadvantaged families, helping to remove one of the barriers that can stand in the way of a child’s education.
The power of this project was clearly shown during last year’s stationery drive, where Pharos supported 42 learners from Laerskool Garsfontein and 122 children in foster care through CMR. That is 164 young lives impacted. Beyond the numbers, each child received the tools and confidence needed to start the school year right.
Pharos needs your help again
As Pharos prepares for its annual end-of-year Stationery Drive, the organisation is appealing to individuals, businesses, schools, and stationery suppliers to come on board and help collect essential school supplies for the year ahead.
Donations can include items such as:
- School stationery sets
- Exercise books
- Pens and pencils
- Colouring pencils and crayons
- Erasers and sharpeners
- Rulers
- Glue
- Scissors
- Pencil cases
- School bags
- Other essential educational supplies
Every item donated can help a child start the school year better prepared.
Pharos believes that access to basic educational resources should not depend on a family’s financial circumstances. A simple stationery donation can therefore become much more than a pencil or exercise book. It can be a message to a child that their education matters and that their community cares.
Pharos Community Centre is inviting the public and businesses to support this year’s Stationery Drive through donations of stationery or financial contributions towards purchasing school supplies.
