The Amy Foundation’s Gala Dinner, “Light Up the World,” was a dazzling affair filled with talent, generosity, and celebration. Performing arts youth shined on the stage, and the night was even more special with the recognition of the iconic Yvonne Chaka Chaka, who received the Amy Foundation Ubuntu Award.

Cape Town, South Africa (02 December 2024) – Inspiration, talent, and generosity beautifully encapsulated the Amy Foundation’s Gala Dinner, themed “Light Up the World”. Held on Saturday, 23 November, the event showcased the power of unity and commitment to transforming the lives of South Africa’s youth.

Young stars from the foundation’s programmes took centre stage, captivating the audience with their incredible performances.

Directed by Aviva Pelham and choreographed by Paul Johnson, these young stars quite literally lit up the world with their talent, passion, and energy.

Their artistry captured the power of the Amy Foundation’s After-School Programme and Youth Skills Development Programme, which empower over 2,000 young people annually.

With funds raised through auctions, pledges, and donations during the evening, the foundation is ready to continue changing lives in 2025.

It was a truly stunning night filled with stars and hope, which included celebrating the iconic Yvonne Chaka Chaka, who was presented with the Amy Foundation Ubuntu Award.

Known as the “Princess of Africa,” Yvonne was celebrated for her lifelong dedication to social upliftment and for embodying the spirit of Ubuntu.

Reflecting on the memorable night, the Amy Foundation extends profound gratitude to its valued partners and supporters who made this memorable evening possible and special thanks to our décor and production teams for creating a magical atmosphere.

The evening would not have been complete without our wonderful MC, Graeme Richards, who guided us with charm and enthusiasm, and auctioneer Rolo Armer, whose spirited energy drove the auctions.

“A heartfelt thank you to Selim Kagee for his enchanting musical performance that left everyone inspired. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, the funds raised through the raffle, Sponsor a Youth initiative, and live and silent auctions will enable the Amy Foundation to continue making a profound impact.

“Together, we are shaping a brighter future for South Africa’s youth—one light at a time,” said Amy Foundation’s Michelle Bagley.
