Date-a-Dog was started by Benji + Moon, an artisanal store selling handcrafted products for cats and dogs. They teamed up with CLAW to help find pups forever homes

Date-a-Dog is a pop up adoption centre that appears at markets. Since the Date-a-Dog initiative was started, 22 dogs have found their forever homes and they are only on their third event.

People can head down to their local market and meet the dogs looking for homes. If a connection is made while on the date, you can take the dog home. There is a home visit and adoption fee involved but these are adoptions standards.

“We will have ten to twelve CLAWbies (rescue dogs from CLAW situated in Durban Deep Roodepoort) who you can come and meet, take for a walk around the market and if the date goes well, you can give them new a home.”

As the market is dog friendly, people can bring their own dogs to see if they too can bond with the dogs up for adoption.

Pop-up adoption centres are becoming the trend. We have previously written about a pop-up adoption centre in Cape Town, you can read it here. It is super cool that Johannesburg now has their own one too.

Benji + Moon is an online store selling curated artisanal store that sells unique items for your pets. 5% of every sale goes towards CLAW. The event details are below.
