Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters won more than just a crown on the night she became Miss Universe. She has been blessed with so many prizes but the most important part is the exposure her personal causes will receive.
Not everyone knows exactly what the new Miss Universe will win with the new title. Just yesterday Brent Lindeque and Kerri Stein were discussing the proudly South African moment on The Good Stuff when the question was asked… What exactly does Miss Universe get?
You can listen to the hilarious response below (remember to unmute the video) about being taken to a hotel or listen to the full show by clicking here:
And as promised during the show… we’ve written an article about what she actually does win.
Aside from being taken to a hotel, being given the title as Miss Universe for 2017/2018, receiving the crown and the sash… Demi-Leigh will also get an enormous amount of prizes.
Here is a list of some of the prizes Demi-Leigh will receive.

- Luxury accommodations in a New York City apartment for the duration of her reign, including living expenses
- A one-year supply of hair care products and tools from Farouk Systems, the makers of CHI Haircare
- A shoe wardrobe by Chinese Laundry Shoes & Accessories

While the prizes sound incredibly exciting, the most important prize of all is the amount of exposure the causes she supports, will get.
Naturally, Demi-Leigh will continue to support South African causes while taking on the standard Miss Universe ones. This is a massive benefit for South Africa as it will boost the charity sector tenfold.
These are some of the causes she believes in and will hopefully support during her reign. The Miss Universe website confirmed that she can focuses on, “Developing and representing her platforms, and raising awareness and funds for charitable initiatives.”
She has been supporting the Hartenberg Children’s Education Fund in Stellenbosch for over three years. The fund works to further the education of children whose parents are farmworkers’.
She was also involved in the #MissSAUnbreakable campaigns that took place at community centres in Diepsloot, Soweto, Mamelodi and Observatory.
Demi-Leigh also collaborated with 6th Dan karate expert, Mark Grobbelaar, who created an organisation called Woman INPowered (WIP), that aims to empower women in life-threatening situations and gives them the knowledge and tools to stay safe.
She plans to use her win to help women around the globe develop their business skills as well:
“I want women to be treated as equals in every part of the world. We are making great strides but there is still so much to be done.”
Good luck to the new Miss Universe, wishing you only good things along the journey!
