Hearts in Hands Food Bank has embarked on a major renovation project at the Mbalenhle Creche, transforming the facility into an inspiring space for children.
Durban, South Africa (03 September 2024) – The past few weeks have seen the volunteers at Hearts in Hands Food Bank working tirelessly to renovate the Mbalenhle Creche.
Volunteers dedicated countless hours to revitalising the facility, repairing the roof, repainting the entire building, and installing new exterior features.
Their ongoing efforts have helped transform the children’s educational environment, creating a safe, welcoming, and inspiring space for learning and growth.
“The refurb of Mbalenhle Creche has been made possible only by the generosity of our wonderful community, amazing people and businesses, and your support for this upliftment project as well as the excellence of the Elangeni Buildings team who have been amazing with going above and beyond on this project,” shared Project Manager, Kim Griffith Jones.
The team was thrilled to share that after a lot of scraping, filling, repairing, and painting all the walls, as well as fixing and replacing the windows, the external phase is finally complete! Additionally, Jojo tanks have been installed for rainwater harvesting.
The project has been a dream come true for the creche’s owner, Nokulunga, who is deeply grateful for the positive impact it will have on the children attending the facility.
According to Hearts in Hands Food Bank, the third phase of the project hopes to see the team uplifting the interior of this little creche.
“We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt appeal for your support in our mission to transform Mbalenhle Creche into a welcoming and vibrant space for the little scholars that attend here.
“Your contribution of just R100 can make a tremendous impact as we are hoping to commence the interior phase of our refurb project next month,” Kim added.
R100 donations can go a long way in the NPO’s refurbishment efforts such as contributing toward paint, flushing ablutions creating a designated babyroom that will create a more inviting environment and purchasing new supplies.
Donations can help play a crucial role in creating a positive and enriching environment for the children at the creche.
