What do koalas, kittens and courage have in common? They all star in the brand-new Australian Firefighters Calendar 2026, raising funds for causes that matter most.

Global  (21 October 2025) – It’s that time of year again… the annual Australian Firefighters Calendar is back and it’s turning up the heat for 2026!

For the sixth year in a row, the Good Things Guy team has been given the inside scoop directly from the firefighters themselves (yes, we’re on a first-name basis with these heroes now and we have their telephone numbers). But this story is about more than just abs and adorable animals, it’s about the good that comes from it all.

For 33 years, the Australian Firefighters Calendar has done more than grace walls, it’s changed lives.

What started as a simple fundraising effort has evolved into a global initiative that supports animal welfare, disaster recovery and the wellbeing of first responders across Australia. The 2026 edition continues this tradition of giving, with proceeds going to incredible organisations including the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital, South Australian Native Animal Rescue, Kids With Cancer Foundation, CAVFA and Safe Haven Animal Rescue. Every photo, whether it’s a firefighter cuddling a koala, rescuing a kitten, or wrangling a rope through flames, represents hope, healing and help for those in need.

Dr Stephen Van Mil, founder and CEO of the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital, shared just how much the support from the calendar has meant, “In 2024, the Byron Bay Raptor Recovery Centre was opened and has been operational for about 19 months. It is a state-of-the-art facility specifically for the rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned birds of prey, and it is currently full of patients. To date, 100% of all birds of prey in our care have been released back into the wild. The honour of the naming rights for the recovery centre for 2025 has been given to the Australian Firefighters Calendar for their continual support to the hospital.”

It’s not just wildlife that benefits. Mignon McHendrie, the 2025 NT Australian of the Year award winner and member of Wildcare Inc, explained how the calendar quite literally helped keep their organisation alive.

“We were first approached by the calendar during a time when we were getting no government support at all. With the support of the Australian Firefighters Calendar, we have not only survived but thrived to 140 carers in the Northern Territory.”

That’s the kind of impact that makes this more than a calendar, it’s a lifeline.

The 2026 edition comes in five unique versions, Dog, Cat, Horse, Mixed Animal and Hero… each designed to raise funds while bringing joy to supporters everywhere. And every sale helps feed rescued animals, fund rehabilitation centres and provide mental health resources to those who protect and serve.

Let’s be honest, our readers love this calendar. It’s one of those stories that gets everyone talking (and maybe blushing a little). For six years running, it’s been one of Good Things Guy’s most-read features and for good reason. The combination of courage, kindness and compassion (with a generous dose of charm) reminds us that doing good can look really, really good too.
