Imagine a world where millions of children long for a simple hug, a gesture of comfort and love. Girls and Boys Town South Africa (GBTSA) is working tirelessly to change this reality by inviting people to donate the value of their hugs to help provide therapeutic hugs to heartbroken children.

Johannesburg, South Africa (22 October 2024) – If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of one (which I’m sure you have), you’ll know that the power of a hug is immeasurable!

Whether you were sad, overjoyed, lonely or had just accomplished a great feat, receiving a hug provides instant feelings of comfort, care and support where words may fail to do justice.

Girls and Boys Town South Africa (GBTSA) shares similar sentiments having seen firsthand, countless times, just how a genuine hug can provide healing to youngsters who need it most.

According to the non-profit charity, millions of emotionally and physically hurt children long for a hug like yours every day. Sadly, however, most never find one.

GBTSA has been a sanctuary for healing heartbroken children and provides safe spaces and support through therapeutic programmes, workshops and family support.

During National Hug Day, which was observed on 4 October, GBTSA invited people to share their personal hug stories and donate the worth of their hug to support heartbroken children.

By donating to the heartwarming cause, GBTSA’s therapeutic professionals and residential staff are able to carry out their invaluable services in providing the healing hugs that heartbroken children desperately need.

If the people you love are lucky enough to know the value of your hug already, you can still share its worth with many boys and girls today.

Let your embrace reach even further, and consider making a donation at https://girlsandboystown.org.za/how-much-is-a-hug-worth/
