Kids Kicking Cancer empowers children battling cancer through martial arts training, helping them find strength, resilience, and hope.
South Africa (23 September 2024) – September is recognised as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, shedding light on the courageous young individuals fighting against this devastating illness.
Providing a unique approach to dealing with this health battle, is Kids Kicking Cancer SA (KKC), an initiative that was started in America in 1999 by Founding Director, Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg. It provides martial arts classes in several public hospitals in South Africa.
“Kids Kicking Cancer’s mission is to ease the pain of very sick children while empowering them to heal physically, spiritually and emotionally
“We teach the mind-body techniques of Martial Arts instruction, breath work and meditation to empower children beyond the pain and discomfort of disease,” shares KKC Programme Coordinator, Moses Sebopa.
Speaking on the impact that KKC has had, Moses shared that the organisation has lowered the pain and empowered over 6,000 children in 16 hospitals across South Africa, as well as one hospital in Zimbabwe and another in Zambia by teaching them that pain is a message you do not have to listen to.
To ensure the programme incorporates and includes family members, siblings are also welcome to join in on the wholesome fun.
“Like many charities and nonprofit organisations, our challenges of securing enough funding and attracting passionate volunteers,” Moses adds.
By donating to Kids Kicking Cancer, you are not only supporting their efforts to bring comfort and joy to many brave children but also enriching your own life with the fulfilment that comes from giving back.
