Mitchells Plain

Mitchells Plain is a neighbourhood within the Cape that is bursting with potential – Artists, chefs, community projects and more all waiting to be seen by visitors.

Cape Town Tourism has been running a series called “Insiders Guide” to various neighbourhoods around Cape Town. They recently focused on the Mitchells Plain neighbourhood.

The video focused on the people working to better the vibrant area. People helping children, growing food gardens and artists making the neighbourhood blossom.

The video even featured some footage from the recent open streets event that was a massive success and pulled the entire community together.

“I think the best thing about Mitchells Plain for me, is the people. That connection between everyone. We don’t have the most asthetic areas but its got heart. You may not see it if you just fly over it, but it’s got lots of heart!” – Fatima Sydow, Cookbook Author and Mitchells Plain resident

This community is more than their crime rate, more than the gangsters that plague it… this community has heart and they want the world to know it!

Take a look at the video below and see all the great things they have to offer. Previously Cape Town Tourism created video’s for Khayelitsha, The Bo-Kaap, Blouberg, Constantia and Langa to name a few.
